Graduate Studies: Geoscience

  • The Department of Geoscience offers an excellent program for graduate and undergraduate training and has many excellent and world renowned research groups.
  • The Department has about thirty-seven full-time professors, nineteen adjunct professors, eight administrative staff and twelve technical staff.
  • About 170 Ph.D. and M.Sc. graduate students are currently enrolled in the Departrment.


The University of Calgary, through the Faculty of Graduate Studies, offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in most areas of geology, geophysics, and hydrology. The varied research interests of the faculty provide opportunities for a wide range of graduate research topics as well as collaborative projects with faculty who have different specialties.
