This award recognizes Research staff in the Department of Geoscience who have excelled in their roles, exhibiting exemplary performance and high standards of achievement or service above and beyond what is normally expected from their roles. They will have fostered an atmosphere of trust, respect, cooperation, creativity and innovation, and will have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to the Department.
No monetary remuneration is associated with this award. Recipient will receive a certificate and have their name placed on a Departmental plaque.
The nominee must have demonstrated a high standard of excellence, as evidenced by exceptional contributions and achievements in some or all of the following categories: leadership; community spirit; research and scholarship; innovation and change; client service. As the roles of Research staff vary widely, the selection committee will consider evidence broadly.
The award is open to all Research staff in the Geoscience Department (a separate award is given for Departmental staff). Research staff may win this award more than once; however, they will only be considered after a minimum of three years has passed since receipt of a previous award. Past award winners being nominated again must show evidence of growth and change in their activities within the time period between the past award and current nomination.
Any member or group of members of the Department of Geoscience with direct knowledge of the nominee’s contributions (undergraduate student, graduate student, research fellow, faculty, staff). Self-nominations will not be accepted.
- Fill out the nomination form
- Write a short letter of nomination (1 page or less) explaining why the candidate is worthy of the award, addressing the criteria above.
- Combine both of the above into a SINGLE PDF and email to the Department Head:
