This award recognizes outstanding teaching efforts of academic staff in the Geoscience Department. Recipients of this award demonstrate evidence of outstanding teaching. Outstanding teaching enhances student learning and promotes deep and diverse learning outcomes. It also results in the creation of engaging and effective learning environments and motivates and challenges students.
No monetary remuneration is associated with this award. Recipient will receive a certificate and have their name placed on a Departmental plaque.
Teaching awards are open to ALL academic staff (including limited term, contingent term and continuing appointments) teaching in the Geoscience Department. Academic staff may win this award more than once; however, they will only be considered after a minimum of five years has passed since receipt of a previous Geoscience Department teaching excellence award. Past award winners being nominated again must show evidence of growth and change in their teaching practice within the time period between the past award and current nomination.
Any member of the Department of Geoscience with direct knowledge of the nominee’s contributions (undergraduate student, graduate student, research fellow, faculty, staff). Self-nominations will not be accepted.
- Fill out the nomination form
- Write a short letter of nomination (1 page or less) explaining why the candidate is worthy of the award, addressing the criteria above.
- Combine both of the above into a SINGLE PDF and email to the Department Head:
